“The DAVIDSONS - the Clan, its history and its people”

This book is the result of many years of research by
the members of the Clan Davidson Association Historical Committee. It's conclusions on the history of the Clan seek to eliminate misleading assertions from earlier times.
There is a detailed section on the Davidsons of Tulloch (the Chiefly line), including their predecessors and successors from Donald Davidson in
the 17th century to the present day. The book includes sections on other Scottish Davidson families, famous and infamous Davidsons, and witches, Jacobites and Davidson Borderers.
Clan Davidson societies from around the world have contributed sections of the text, which includes appendices on Clan Davidson tartans, emblems and customs.
The 200 page book, which includes 16 colour and 16 black and white illustrations is available in hard cover (ISBN 978-0-9565488-0-1) or paperback (ISBN 978-0-9565488-3-2)

The Pheon
The annual Clan Davidson Association journal provides stories and information about the history and personalities of Davidsons and associated septs.
Our 2011 edition of The Pheon includes substantive Davidson stories contributed from Australia, Germany, the USA, Northern Ireland and Scotland,
and also has short items about the Clan Davidson archive collections and recent historical finds, and a poem contributed by James Davidson, former President of the the Clan Davidson Association.
The lead story this year is about Sir Charles Davidson, KBE, OBE (1897-1985), who was a distinguished Australian military officer, farmer and Parliamentarian.
We know from separate researches that his ancestral roots stem from the Tarves area of Aberdeenshire, north east Scotland. It was from this same area of Scotland that
A Davidson Family of Missionaries and Medics originated, the subject of a story compiled by new CDA member Martin Brown, from his family diaries and letters.
We also feature a story about a Davidson with an extraordinary record of life-saving John Davidson - The Peterhead Rescue contributed by Fiona Riddell.
The article exemplifies the wealth of Davidson family history which is just waiting to be researched and shared from this part of Scotland.
In another article, Charles Davidson, a founder member of the Clan Davidson Association, shares stories, photographs and anecdotes about his Merchant Mariner father.
Also in the 2011 Pheon is a story from Clan Davidson Association member Erik von Davidson, about his brother Heinz von Davidson, a German naval officer.
Stories from previous editions of The Pheon are continued in articles about Brigadier General William Lee Davidson, contributed by Debbie Mecca from Kentucky, USA,
and about the Reverend Professor Samuel Davidson, contributed by Dr Eull Dunlop from Northern Ireland.
